A Knocked-Out Tooth Can Be Completely Replaced with a Dental Bridge

Posted .

It’s estimated by the American Dental Association that an average of three million teeth are knocked out each year during athletic activities. In most cases, pieces of the tooth still remain in the socket and they must be extracted to prevent pain and further complications.

Once your gums have healed after the extraction, our Mark Andrews, D.D.S.1 team can completely replace the tooth with a dental bridge in Kirkland, Washington.

To begin treatment, your dentist, Dr. Mark Andrews, will start by reshaping the anchoring teeth by removing the majority of their enamel. Then, an impression is taken of the smile. This impression will be sent to a dental lab and will be used as a guide for the technicians who make your new bridge.

Your dentist will cement a temporary crown over the anchoring teeth to protect them while the dental lab works on your permanent bridge.

Once the lab has completed your bridge, we will call you back into our office for a follow-up appointment. During this appointment, your dentist will remove the temporary crowns and cement your permanent bridge into place. With the proper care and cleaning, the bridge will replace your knocked-out tooth for many years to come.

If you’ve had a tooth knocked out, you should call Mark Andrews, D.D.S.1 as soon as possible at 425-821-8100 to explore your treatment and restoration options.
